Friuli Venezia Giulia is an extraordinary region for weddings. The Collio hills with golden September vineyards, the historic villas of the Friulian plain, the sea at Grado and Lignano, the mountain villages of Carnia. Each venue has different light, a different rhythm, its own character.
Choosing the right videographer also means choosing someone who knows these places: who already knows how the light moves at sunset over the Collio hills, who knows the acoustics of the Basilica of Aquileia, who has already filmed in the villa where you'll be married.
1. Watch the full film, not just the teaser
The teaser — those 2-3 exciting minutes with the right music — is easy to do well with any material. The full film is not. A wedding film lasts between 10 and 20 minutes, and in those minutes everything shows: how the videographer handles group scenes, ceremony audio, waiting moments, transitions.
Before signing any contract, ask to see at least three complete weddings. If the videographer doesn't have them or won't show them, that's a signal.
2. Ask about audio
Audio is the most underrated part of a wedding video. The vows, the father's speech, the friend's reading — these are often the most emotional moments of the entire video. An unprepared videographer records them with the camera microphone, from ten metres away, with wind and footstep noise.
Ask: how do they handle microphones during the ceremony? Do they use a lavalier on the officiant? Do they record the reception speech with a second audio source? The answers separate professionals from enthusiasts.
3. One operator or two?
For a standard wedding one experienced operator can cover everything. For weddings with articulated ceremonies, multiple locations, or overlapping moments — bride and groom preparations at the same time, for example — a second operator is almost essential.
In Friuli, ceremonies in Baroque churches on the plain or in Carnic mountain parishes often have complex structures: multiple naves, difficult side lighting, tight spaces. A single operator risks missing key moments.
4. How much does a wedding videographer cost in Friuli?
Based on active professionals in the region, prices for a wedding video in Friuli Venezia Giulia start around 1,200-1,500 euros for a basic package with one operator, rising to 2,500-4,500 euros for productions with two operators, full film, drone and raw footage.
Be wary of very low prices: a wedding video requires not only filming hours (8-12 hours), but also 3-5 days of editing, colour grading, audio syncing and music selection. A serious professional cannot do this for a few hundred euros.
5. Is a drone necessary?
Aerial drone footage gives spectacular results in certain contexts: villa weddings with grounds, agriturismos among vineyards, mountain ceremonies. But it requires an ENAC-certified operator and flight permit management, which in some parts of Friuli — near airports, protected areas — can be complex.
If you're thinking of including drone footage in your video, explicitly ask whether the operator holds the ENAC A1/A3 licence and has already flown in that specific area.
6. What does delivery include?
This point is often overlooked and then becomes a source of misunderstandings. Ask exactly:
- Is raw footage included? On what medium?
- In what format is the edited film delivered? (4K or Full HD)
- Is the music licensed for publication on YouTube and Facebook?
- When will the video be delivered?
Delivery times in the industry range from 2 to 6 months. There is no right answer: it depends on the videographer's workload and the complexity of the edit.
A final note
The wedding video is the only active memory of your day. Photos are beautiful, but video is the only thing that lets you hear your father's voice again, the sound of the church, the music you chose. It's not an optional luxury — it's the most important document you'll take away from that day.
